Mixed Media Twin Tags

Hello everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I wish you have an even more beautiful and creative week!

Today I would like to share with you my Twin Tags, a pair of mixed media tags I created by using packaging cardboard. For the colors, I was inspired by the various shades of yellow, purple, blue, orange, pink, and brown, that predominate in nature during Autumn.

I call them twins, because I created them to complement one another.

Could be a mother urging her offspring to follow her dreams, or could be a woman reminiscing her childhood and reviewing her life so far…

For this project, you can find a step-by-step tutorial over at SCRAPS N PIECES – The Blog.

Here are some photos. I hope you like them!

Thank you for visiting my blog!

Until next time

Born Bad - MM&A June Thematic Challenge

Hello everyone!

Once again with a car as a focal point!

I saw it three years later, in 1986, when I was 13 years old, but I will never forget it!
This is a mixed media project, created on a 12.5” x 12” piece of 300gsm Winsor & Newton Cotman watercolor paper. It is my entry to the Mixed Media & Art Thematic Challenge for June.

Awareness - Mixed Media Layout

Hello everyone!

Today I would like to present you one more project with which I’m entering the Annual Prima DTCall.  #PrimaDTCall

This time I drew my inspiration from some very popular female portraits.

As you all know, they were created by the famous and very talented artist Piero Fornasetti (1913-1988). He found the face of operatic soprano Lina Cavalieri, in a 19th-century magazine, and created over 500 variations of her face!

By looking at them, I realized that combining some of the portraits together, one can create a whole story.

That is how I created this mixed media layout.

It measures 12” x 12” and I used a piece of design paper from my stash to make it.

Modern Deity

Hello everyone!

Today I would like to share with you a new project I created for my participation to Prima Design Team Call. #PrimaDTCall

As a Greek, I am always fascinated by my country’s ancient history and civilization and very often I draw my inspiration from myths about ancient gods and heroes.

I had this curvy glass bottle in my kitchen, for so long, that I couldn’t even remember where I had found it. Then, one day I realized that its shape reminded me of the Minoan snake goddess.

This magnificent figurine was found in the palace of Knossos by the British archaeologist Arthur Evans. It is being displayed at the Archeological Museum of Herakleion, Crete.

I started wondering how a contemporary goddess would look like, what she would symbolize, what kind of story she would tell to the future generations about our time.

This is how I imagined her to be and I really hope you like it!

Travel Album - Prima French Riviera Collection

Hello everyone!

I’m back with another project for the Annual Prima Design Team Call. #PrimaDTCall

For this project I used the 12x12 Collection Kit-French Riviera by Prima. Such a beautiful collection! I was so inspired by the designs and colors.
The idea of creating a vintage-style travel album immediately came to me.

A cute little booklet with large and small pockets, journaling cards and space for photos, to fill with memories from an exciting journey!

Altered Clock Case

Hello everyone!

For the next few days I am going to share with you some projects I created for my participation to the Annual Prima Design Team Call. #PrimaDTCall

Summer is such an inspiring season and of course I’m always dreaming of discovering vintage treasures that are washed ashore on a deserted beach!

That is how I came up with the idea of turning an empty clock case  - I used the mechanism on another project – to a vintage porthole.

Prima Tiny Concertina Album

Hello everyone!

At the 4th Scraps n Pieces Annual Crop, all the participants agreed to have a gift exchange.

The idea was that each one of us would make a gift box, containing one of our creations as well as various things from our stash that we bought and never used and of course a handmade greeting card.

So for this project, I created a tiny concertina photo album, with Prima "Time Traveler's Memories" paper collection.

Mini Photo Album @ 4th Scraps n Pieces Crop

Scraps N Pieces is a wonderful art studio - in Greece - and online store, owned by my amazing art teacher Myrto Panagiotopoulou.

A few days ago, on March 19th, together with her team, they organized the best Scrapbooking Crop ever held in Greece! The event was sponsored by popular brands and designers and apart from the project, there were so many gifts!

We all had a common project, to create a mini photo album with a ring binder. Kits were available, for all the participants, and they included papers, die cuts, stickers and embellishments, all designed by Zinia Amoiridou. Each kit was completely different from the others, so that every album would be unique!

Mini Journal Album

Hello everyone!

Today, I would like to share with you a Mini Journal Album, I created out of a Bluetooth slider box.
The album measures 55/8” x 33/4”  and the spine is 11/2  wide.
The pages, inside measure 51/4” x 31/2”.

As you go through the pages , you will notice that the quotes are encouraging and motivating. This album is a message from you to yourself. A journal where you can leave notes to yourself and remind you how unique and precious you are!

"Message in a Bottle" Birthday Card

My daughters wanted to make a birthday card for their uncle. He loves the sea and he’s a great fisherman.
I suggested that we made something different than a classic card.
So, why not give him a “Message in a Bottle”?

Humming Bird

Hello everyone!

I had an art journal spread (18" x 9.5") painted with a vibrant purple color, leftover from another project. It reminded me of exotic birds and that was my inspiration for the Humming Bird. I adore these little creatures, because they are so delicate and beautifulThey are absolutely stunning!

Santa's Red Phone

I had this “After Eight” chocolate tin box for ages. Such a beautiful piece, but could never decide what to do with it.

One day the idea hit me. It was almost Christmas and I started thinking that Santa must have some kind of telephone appliance at home. I could never imagine him talking on a cell phone or a wireless one. Some things have to be classic and vintage, otherwise they lose their charm.

So there it is!

My handmade Social Media Icons

Hello everyone!

This is the very first post on my blog, and I’m so excited about this new beginning in my life!

As I was trying to make a blog that would actually represent me, I got stuck searching for some social media icons to match my style. Guess I'm a bit picky. Also had a hard time with that “back-to-top” button.

So, I had no choice, but to create my own!

I took a handmade watercolor booklet – gift from my amazing art teacher – and started drawing my icons with a pencil. No measurements, no proportions kept, just free sketching.
When I was satisfied with my sketches, I took my Winsor & Newton Cotman Watercolour Sketchers Pocket Box 12 Half Pans, and colored the icons with a mixture of Ultramarine Blue and Burnt Umber, with some touches of Yellow Ochre.
Then I took pictures of the icons, cropped them to a round shape, resized them and voila! They may not be perfect, but they are mine and I’m so happy about that.

If you like them too, feel free to use them and please send me your web address, so I can have a look.
